With great pride the St. Eustatius Afrikan Burial Ground Alliance have the pleasure of inviting the general public of St. Eustatius to actively participate with us celebrating in a ceremonially setting.

- Presentation of the recently published Magazine “Remember Statia” with 12 stories about our Ancestors;
- Our successful application of the UNESCO label “Routes of Enslaved Peoples” for the Golden Rock and Godet Burial Ground;
- Kick-off of our community project “Reclaiming Our Stories: Restoring Our Ties“;
- Screening of the documentary ‘A Story of Bones‘;
- Ceremonially finishing with a spiritual honoring and memorization of our Ancestors by Ms. Annina van Neel and Ms. Peggy King Jorde.

Honorable Queen Aïdji, Minister of Historical Legacy, Co-chair Royal Chamber of the State of the African Diaspora & President of the Royal Faculty of Historical Legacy. Queen Aïdji, will elaborate on giving understanding and insight as to how our ancestors’ traditional, ceremonial, and spiritual reburial with Memorialization is conducted.
Honorable Mr. Artwell Cain, Cultural anthropologist/ researcher/consultant and writer focused on the themes of ethnicity, representation and identity. He is the founder of the Institute for Cultural Heritage & Knowledge
REMEMBER STATIA: tracings our origins and presentation of the published magazines on October 13th and the paintings reflecting on the initiative by the Alliance, why is it important placing the historic eighteenth century Afrikan burial ground Golden Rock and Godet Afrikan burial ground plantation on UNESCO Routes of Enslaved Peoples program. Explaining the importance and necessity of achieving these successful milestones and how important is the role of community and internationally, “Breaking” the silence surrounding the history of slavery and the importance of knowing about our ancestor’s civilization before they were enslaved. The Special Remember Statia edition of AFRO Magazine will be on sale, and a few of the artworks of Frederick Calmes will be on display. There will be an exhibition of all the artworks in the public library on November 12, 16, and 17 in the public library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
